Simeon Smith, M.S.
Research Associate

Working in voice research since 2008, Simeon specializes in voice biomechanics and experimental and computational vocal fold modeling. He is also experienced in orthopedic biomechanics, crop biomechanics, materials testing, mathematical modeling, and machine design/fabrication. Simeon’s research has investigated both normal and pathological voice phenomena including vocal fold posturing, pitch change, vocal fold nodules, and subglottic stenosis.

Simeon earned his BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University, with an emphasis in biomechanics. He began work for the National Center for Voice and Speech in 2012 and was then recruited in 2013 to perform groundbreaking research in the new field of crop biomechanics for New York University in Abu Dhabi.

He returned to NCVS in 2015 and is excited to continue to make an impact in voice research.
