Nix, Conference Coordinator Ingo R. Titze, Ph.D is a University of Iowa Foundation Distinguished Professor in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology and the School of Music. He is also executive director of the National Center for Voice and Speech. Dr. Titze has published over 250 articles in scientific and educational journals, authored a book entitled Principles of Voice Production, and co-edited two books in a series entitled Vocal Fold Physiology. He is currently completing two additional books entitled Vocology and The Myoelastic-Aerodynamic Theory of Phonation. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Singing and has written a bi-monthly column in this Journal for 20 years. Mr. John Rubin, MD FACS FRCS is a Consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon at The Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital Division of The Royal Free NHS Trust, where he is the Lead Clinician of the Voice Disorders Unit. He is also an Honorary Consultant ENT Surgeon at St. Bartholomews Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Laryngology and Otology, University College London. Mr. Rubin's particular interests lie in voice disorders and laryngeal surgery. He has written extensively, including several books, numerous articles and chapters, and regularly lectures on voice-related topics. Mr. Rubin has served in multiple capacities on many international editorial and scientific boards and committees, including two terms on the Voice, Speech and Swallowing committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. Mr. Rubin is a President-Elect of the British Voice Association. Paul Kiesgen, M.M., is Professor of Voice and Chairman of the Voice Department at Indiana University. In addition to studio voice, he teaches courses in vocal pedagogy for IU's master of music and doctor of music students. He holds B.Mus and M.Mus degrees from Northwestern University School of Music. He has been a member of NATS since 1973. He served the Chicago Chapter of NATS as Program Chairman, Corresponding Secretary, Vice President and President. He has also been Vice President and President of the Phoenix/Northern Arizona Chapter. He was publicity chairman for the 1986 national convention of NATS in Chicago and the Second International Congress of Voice Teachers in Philadelphia. He was elected to membership in Chicago Singing Teachers' Guild in 1984 and is listed in Who's Who Among America's Teachers. Mr. Kiesgen is a regular guest teacher for Accademia Internazionale delle Arti in Rome. He has taught at the Brevard Music Center and Aria International Summer Academy in Canada and was a master teacher for the 2000 NATS Intern Program. His articles on vocal techniques have appeared in Choral Journal and Classical Singer Magazine. He has performed in operas and concerts in North America, Europe, Israel and China. Harm Kornelis Schutte M.D., Ph.D. is Professor of Medical Voice and Speech Pathology at the University of Groningen. Schutte is a co-founder and has been a board member of the Dutch Association for Phoniatricians, (President from 1984 - 1995); of the Union of European Phoniatricians (Treasurer from 1986 - 1996); Board Member and Treasurer of the COMET; Board Member and Treasurer of the IALP, of which he has been President since 2001. He provides editorial assistance to Folia Phoniatrica (Editor for Voice and Editor-in-Chief since 2001), The Journal of Voice, Tijdschrift voor Stem-Spraak-Taalpathologie, European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology and other journals. Dr. Schutte was one of the primary organizers of the first PAS conference. Donald Miller, Ph. D. began his career as an opera singer and voice teacher. Early in his career he performed in Germany and Austria, and made stage appearances in several cities, including the Wiener Kammeroper. Following his performing career, he joined the faculty of the Syracuse University School of Music, where he taught for over two decades, rising to the rank of professor. In 1987 he moved permanently to Groningen to devote himself to research on the acoustics and physiology of the singing voice as an associate of the Groningen Voice Research Lab.
